Iron Gears - a Mecha Ironsworn Campaign Ep.0 - The World Truths

Hi, Tommy again! I've decided to make my first Ironsworn Starforged Campaign a Mecha themed one, I had played quite alot of Dynasty Warriors Gundam in the past and Gurren Lagann is still my favorite anime so I made this game a Mecha game. It's also taking some traits from the video game Rimworld, namely my modded playthroughs of that game.

The thing am serious about changing in this game are as follows...

NO CHAT GPT ALLOWED ANYMORE!

Why you ask? simple, I got lazy and would rely too heavily on it. plus I think it reflects poorly on myself as a creative to use it. I have to make things on my own and put in the work to make something now.

That's not to condemn people who do use it though, like any other tool AI has it's place, it's just am bad at self control and would just make the AI do the work for me too often to make something good. plus AI is kinda bad at making original stuff.

On to the start of the Actual Play/Replay stuff now.

The game I will be playing is called Ironsworn Starforged, it's the improved sci-fi reskin of the classic and free Ironsworn Solo RPG by Shawn Tomkin. I've actually used the old rules of Ironsworn to play a cringy Kamen Rider story and that game was technically the Origin of my two favorite Original Characters Ryan and Michael. So I actually have some experience with Ironsworn already. It's unique in the fact that unlike Traditional TTRPGs this game was designed from the ground up to be a Solo experience. Meaning it comes with the tools to GM yourself. so I don't need tools like GM Emulators (Namely Mythic 2E) to play the game. the rules already cover that.

I won't bore you with every rule or every roll, I find those parts of the game boring to write about and will simply write the recap of my actions, maybe give commentary on the rolls and choices that led to that story but no paragraphs of "2d6+pie=XYZ" type shit. also expect this to be AT LEAST "T for Teen" in content, am not going to cover some of the most dark topics, but I do expect warcrimes and violence as Rimworld's DNA is a part of the campaign setting am running, I can't promise it will be family friendly.

Now let's get started with the actual prepwork that we need to cover to actually play the game, thankfully Ironsworn makes this task easy. In this game there are a few dozen multiple choice questions about the game's setting. Ironsworn has a default setting but your encouraged to customize it to your liking. which I did at some questions in this worksheet. These questions are called "World Truths" and they existed sense the free version launched.

Just an FYI am using the Virtual Table Top "Foundry VTT" for automation and character sheet, I don't think am going to go hard on visuals for this game but I have the option to do so just in case.

Anyways here are screenshots of each World Truth question in order.

CATACLYSM

 EXODUS

 COMMUNITIES

 IRON

EXTRA NOTE: In the Ironsworn settings you make vows on Iron, I forgot to put this into the custom Truth I made but just assume that due to the powers of Black Iron ritual promises are made. Vows are basically quests you promise to complete and it's critical to the game rules. Moving on now.

That covers the World Truths for this blog Series. As you no doubt see this game is deep with lore even before I started adding my own twist to it. I would cover a Character creation process but am not yet ready to make a character and want a break to do other things. possibly setup the music am going to listen to while playing the game.

Unlike my many other projects am not going into this game expecting an Epic out the gate, I tend to crash and burn it comes to those projects. hopefully I can do better here. Hope you have a good day and maybe next episode I can show off a character concept!
